About Us

SeebGen was founded in January 2024 as a response to years of advanced research at the Nanomaterials Laboratory of the University of Los Andes in Bogota, Colombia. For over a decade, this laboratory has worked on optimizing the liquid-phase graphene production process and evaluating its thermoelectric properties. This effort culminated in the submission of a PCT in 2023, laying the foundation for the creation of SeebGen, with the goal of bringing innovative nanomaterials-based technologies to market

The SeebGen story

It all began with the pioneering research of Professor Yenny Hernández, who was one of the first to refine the liquid-phase exfoliation process of graphene during her doctoral studies. Her work was so significant that it has been cited over 4,000 times, marking a milestone in the development of this revolutionary material. Over the years, Yenny and her team explored new applications for graphene, particularly its thermoelectric capability when deposited on flexible substrates and its enhancement in the production of large quantities of high-quality graphene. In 2022 and 2023, the team succeeded in developing functional devices using fabrics as a base for graphene deposition, demonstrating the enormous potential of the technology for converting thermal energy into electricity. This advancement was the final push for the creation of SeebGen, whose purpose is to transfer this technology to industry by developing products that can enhance energy efficiency in sectors such as aerospace, electronics, and cloud computing.
